The Baicells Evolved Packet Core (EPC) is an all-in-one network product which conforms to 3GPP standards. It coordinates with the LTE eNodeB, processes packet services rapidly, and provides the high quality of mobile broadband services to meet the demands of users for higher bandwidth and service quality.
The Baicells EPC is designed for virtualized environments. It is organized in independent modules of Control Plane and User Plane. Each module of Baicells EPC can be deployed on any Linus X86_64 platform, such as common rack server, public cloud virtual machine, and Industrial Personal Computer. As deployment is very flexible, there are two typical structures of Baicells EPC solutions:
HaloB (Distributed EPC)
Baicells designs an innovative structure of EPC: distributed EPC Control Plane is integrated into base station, customers will no longer worry about the effect of backhaul latency on signaling. The User Plane could either be deployed in the base station or independently. The distributed User Plane can complete the forwarding of common data services, while the independent User Plane will provide all the features as traditional EPC. Customers can flexibly chose the way of EPC deployment according to their requirements, and even chose both ways based on different business type.
Baicells deploys the Control Plane of EPC on Public Cloud platform, and integrates distributed User Plane inside the base station, then whole Baicells Cloud EPC plays the role of Software as a Service (SaaS). Base station could have access to Cloud EPC at any location of the world through Internet, all the data on User Plane will be offloaded directly from the base station. This will give customer a lower latency on Internet access and will cost down the back haul a lot.
Baicells provides a Local and a Cloud Operations Management Console (OMC), both with redundancy back-up, ensuring high availability and high reliability, and offering management functions, such as: basic device configuration, upgrades, monitoring, reporting, etc.
An alarm is triggered when there is an abnormal system event. Supports email and APP notifications, saving time when troubleshooting issues.
Key Performance Indicators show the equipment's history performance data, provide report functions, and show daily/weekly/monthly performance history.
Baicells equipment can be pre-configured so that the OMC automatically recognizes and registers devices, upgrades software, and configures according to customer scenarios.
In August 2016, OMC on Cloud opens to WISP in North America. Now there are more than 1000 registered WISP on Cloud OMC, where more than 10 thousands commercial & registered devices are steadily running.
